Bijupirá or Paramijú, or Beijupirá, internationally known as Cobia, belongs to the species Rachycentron canadum. Found worldwide in tropical and subtropical waters, it can reach 65kg of weight.
Fast growing species, it can reach 6 kg in one year when reared in net pens in tropical waters. The white and soft meat is very appreciated by the Japanese cuisine.
Cobia can be farmed in net pens in the sea fed with commercial dry fish food.
